The Longest Canopy

Rare Offering for the great Samma Sambuddha with the longest canopy…

With the given advice of Ven. Waharaka Abhayarathanalankara Thero we have created the longest canopy ever made in the history for an offering to the great Samma Sambuddha.

Officially 10,000 people involved to create this canopy while unofficially many people supported to finish it successfully. The main canopy was about 1.2 km (1200m) long and it was to represent the great Samma Sambuddha & for the greatest coolness, the blessed one has given to all of us.

There were 1 lakh of 4 x 4 canopies included to the main Canopy. Those small canopies to represent one lakh of the great Arihaths.

Each small canopy had a unique design which represent the 4 noble truths and the nirvana - the enlightenment.So we had to use 4 lakh of tiny artificial pearls & one lakh of artificial gem models for the design.

The cloth which we used to decorate the main canopy was about 50km long. We needed 800 people to carry the main canopy.

This rare offering actually created the history of offering as it was so unique and blissful. It was such a rare opportunity to be a part of this offering and I would like to share the wonderful time we had with this great offering to please your heart as it was yours. Have a blessed time!!!
