I don’t have to explain why it the quality of “Gratitude” is so important or praised by the great ones. Let me share just one single Suttra from Pali Canon where Blessed one explained the value of being “Gratitude”
In Sutra Pitaka < Aṅguttara Nikāya < 2. Book of the Three (Tika-Nipāta) < 12. Apāyikavaggo < 2. Dullabhasuttaṃ - Rare arisings (Will update the sutra soon in Tripitaka Search)
“Bhikkhus, the arising of three things are rare in the world. What three? The arising of the Thus Gone One, worthy and rightfully enlightened is rare the world. A person who preaches the Teaching and Discipline declared by the Thus Gone One is rare in the world. A person who has gratitude and returns it, is rare in the world. Bhikkhus, the arising of these three things are rare in the world.”
In another sutra;
In Sutra Pitaka < Aṅguttara Nikāya < 2. Book of the Two (Duka-Nipāta) < 1. First Section < 1. Kammakāarna Wagga < 4. Samacitta Wagga (Will update the sutra soon in Tripitaka Search)
In there the Blessed One said;
“Now what is the level of a person of no integrity? A person of no integrity is ungrateful & unthankful. This ingratitude, this lack of thankfulness, is advocated by rude people. It is entirely on the level of people of no integrity. A person of integrity is grateful & thankful. This gratitude, this thankfulness, is advocated by civil people. It is entirely on the level of people of integrity.”
So, let’s talk about the gratitude more in future. Until then this is just a part of my way of showing “Gratitude” to the people who support me in various ways to walk in the path of Nirvana!
May the quality of Gratitude arise in your heart more & more for what you already have and for those who support you for what you are now! Have a blessed time with a heart filled with Gratitude!
