Everything Vanish!

Article summary
In the previous editorial, we have discussed how some practitioners could mislead by certain views and how they can easily confuse Buddhism with Spiritualism. Giving importance to identifying the true birthplace of Samma Sambuddha or true Bodhi tree where the enlightenment happened or the place where the blessed one passed away and connect them into the path of nibbana is a really dangerous view to have. Why it is dangerous?
Because it can lead to many conflicts and also very misleading to a practitioner and surely will miss the opportunity to liberate in this era of Gautama Samma Sambuddha.
Historical factors are always changing. As we can see the names of certain trees, certain places, certain people are changing with the time. Once Samma Sambuddha came up with such an example in the Sutta Name “Mount Vepulla” (Vepullapabbata Sutta).
The Blessed one explained how the Mount Vepulla used to have different name and how people used to live that area address on various names and how long it took to climb that mountain on various eras etc…
“Once upon a time, mendicants, this Mount Vepulla was known as Pācīnavaṁsa. And at that time people were known as Tivaras. The lifespan of the Tivaras was 40,000 years. It took them four days to climb Mount Vepulla which named was Pācīnavaṁsa on those days, and four days to descend. At that time Kakusandha, the Blessed One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha arose in the world. The blessed one had a fine pair of chief disciples named Vidhura and Sañjīva. See, mendicants! This mountain’s name has vanished, those people have passed away, and that Samma Sambuddha has become fully quenched. So impermanent are conditions; so unstable are conditions; so unreliable are conditions. This is quite enough for you to become disillusioned, dispassionate, and freed regarding all conditions.”
Likewise, in the sutta Samma Sambuddha kept continue how many names this Mount Vepulla had and how many Samma Sambuddhas happened and how everything was vanished and how delusional it is to rely on everything as truth!
So, my dear dhamma friends… be wise focus on the true teaching. If the whole teaching is about how to identify how delusional we are and how it is creating endless samsara and how we are trapped on such views and beliefs we should be careful not to distract with such false views which explains to depend on external places or some energy sources for our liberation.
It’s been already thousands of years passed after Gauthama Samma Sambuddha’s passed away. The names of places have vanished… the names of people have vanished… even the lifespan of human being already reduced… This clearly shows and guide us to understand true teaching of Samma Sambuddha.
Just be awake and look around nothing is permeant. This nature of everything keeps reminding you that you are no owner of anything at all. Not even to your own body. You are delusional by believing that you are in control of everything. Just because you could experience some temporary control over things, it doesn’t mean you can control everything. Wait this is not what Buddhist teaching is. Pure Buddhist teaching is deeper than this. This is just the basic truth which you have already missed. First one should learn to focus on this simple visible truth. Which is everything having this impermeant nature.
Like Samma Sambuddha explained in this Sutta when Mount Vepulla is named as Pācīnavaṁsa the people known as Tivaras whose lifespan was 40,000 years believed that’s the truth. They believe that’s the true name of that mountain. They believe that’s their names are the true name. they believe that their life span is the correct and truth. Look at the world around us… everyone fighting for what they believe. They believe this is my country and its current name is the truth. Some believe this is my religion, some believe this is my place, some believe this is my identity… etc… etc… at the end majority is fighting with each other for what they believe as the truth. But they never bother to see what happened in the past. Almost every country has a history. Historical fights are there… some wins… some defeated… some names have been changed… some rules have been changed… what they actually fought for? What left? When people’s lifespan is 40,000 years no one may have believed that the lifespan going to be ended up in 100 years… as now no one is going to believe that lifespan going to be 10 years soon. These have become hard to believe facts just because of the delusional mind which believes on certain created truth as the eternal truth.
So, my dear dhamma friends… we have way to liberate from this trap. For that we have to be open minded. We have to develop certain skills to see through the delusional truth. Without depending on the external facts & figures there are so much more to look in to. Dependency always creates chaos and makes you away from the truth. So, your dedication to realize the eternal truth shouldn’t be distracted over external facts & figures. Or some energy sources.
When you believe in something look deep in to it and see how uncertainty is lies beneath that condition. How impermanent nature is in that condition. How unstable is that condition. How unreliable is that condition. When you develop such a skill it will leads you to see through the delusional truth which created by the ignorance. That will give you a clear mind of a skilled listener where you will be able to realize the eternal truth when those four factors of stream entry arise. That will lead you to become disillusioned, dispassionate, and freed regarding all conditions. True liberation can’t be achieved through a conditioned mind. A conditioned and agitated mind will lead you to rely on false views for liberation. So, just be aware and be focused. Because it’s only you who can save you from this trap. No one but only you can save yourself!
